I have the same effect here. (I only changed kernels, not u-boot).
r1331 works while r1637 does not.

We have change the resister value on the PMU battery circuit, should give 
better scale compare to Bv3 version, but we did not put all rest Bv4 SMT due 
to holiday/quene issue. We will verify the boards rest SMT finished.

That's right.
But if users want to add a group and add contacts to the group later, they will
have to enter the group name again. 
Also, user may want to delete a group even if there are several contacts in it.
It's just delete the group, the contacts are still there.
In my mind, group is just a logical concept and provide the usability to user
for example to send message or email at one time.
May be its not the most appropriate solution.

After debugging gtk-2.6.10, I found that 90% of scaling time is occupied by 
function pixops_process(pixops.c:1019).
There ard less float operations in this function.
So I think no FPU is not the root cause of slow scaling.
