 That's weird - I get the problem when I ssh in as root. You cannot

 Regarding my problem, Andy's reply shows that it's a feature, not a bug.

 Regarding your problem, no I can't reproduce. $PATH is set allright when I
 login as root or "su -".

 Tested true: clicking the Power button wakes up the Neo and unfreeze the
 connection. Good to know, better than cycling the cable too much (which
 wakes up ifplugd on the host for nothing). Thanks.

 As for "never suspend when I have an ssh session up", that would be a sane
 default, yes. Obviously this calls for a generic solution that covers also
 multimedia playing applications. File under "Power management" I guess ?
