#1315: xglamo: Performance decreases after a while
----------------------------------------+-----------------------------------
Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: openmoko-devel
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: highest | Milestone:
Component: Xfbdev (kdrive), Xglamo | Version: Om2008.8
Severity: critical | Resolution:
Keywords: | Blockedby:
Reproducible: | Blocking:
----------------------------------------+-----------------------------------
Comment(by zecke):
Small temporary summary:
- We see Xglamo busy waiting for the command queue to empty but have no
idea why
- There is #1066 but I could not find much trace inside the glamo docu
abut it
- We know that the kernel might enable/disable engines and cmd queue
without Xglamo knowing that.
Resolutions:
- Find out if #1066 is the case and adjust Xglamo to wait for the queue
to empty if there is something else queued
- Share implementation with the kernel... provide ioctl's for certain
operation to make sure that Xglamo and kernel agree... this is on my list
Testing:
- Any testing will be quite hard without really understanding the issue
(indeed a manageable cmd-queue log would come in handy). Maybe I will
prepare patches for that first.

Attached patch fixes this
This happens because DBus error is badly initialized
I didn't check in other places if this programming error is anywhere else

tested with the image below in two devices:
kernel:20080808-asu.stable-uImage.bin
root file system:20080814-asu.stable-rootfs.jffs2
@68 showed up two packages in the "UPDATE", but none of them can download,
show up the ERROR message update failed, reason "unknown"
@132,177, without any packages in UPDATE
Don't know if the package been took away or other reason, but show up
unknown error message is also confusing....

#1835: A better fix for host endianness of dfu-util
----------------------------+-----------------------------------------------
Reporter: wiml | Owner: openmoko-devel
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone:
Component: host utilities | Version:
Severity: normal | Keywords:
Blockedby: | Reproducible: always

----------------------------+-----------------------------------------------
The byte-swapping code in dfu-util depends on some nonportable system
headers. Rather than extend autoconf to check more and more systems'
headers, I just wrote a portable byteswap routine. (Since the routine is
only called once per run of dfu-util, it hardly needs an optimized
assembly implementation.) A patch is attached. I can upload and download
updates fine from my (big-endian ppc) host.
