#666: 3G SIM capability
----------------------------------------+-----------------------------------
Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: michael
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: highest | Milestone:
Component: GSM Modem | Version: unspecified

Comment(by Eorhim):
OK, I will join the circus.
I spent some time submitting AT commads and all network- and
authentication-related commands failed
(http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Manually_using_GSM). Especially the AT+CPIN
failed every time. I first tested it with the GUI and it told me after
three times, my SIM is now locked, but after switching to an other phone
it was still working without requiring the PUC. I'm not sure, who's
responsible for locking a SIM, but I think it should be the SIM itself.
So my conclusion is: The FreeRunner has problems submitting the PIN
(perhaps comunicating relyable with the SIM alltogether).
Then I switched off the PIN usage with the other phone, but nothing
changed in the behavior. The same with switching the PIN to 0000 and an
other value.
I also tried the "insert SIM card slightly awry", but it didn't help.
Operator: O2 Germany
SIM serial: 7080643993750VY UMTS/GSM SIM
I got the SIM card at the beginning of August 2008. No voltage indicator,
unless the 50V in the number indicate the voltage, but that's unlikely.
Layout is the reported problematic one.
I did all my tests with 2007.2 of 2008-08-20 and no additional software.
The gsm_log output is attatched.
I will test the SIM card of a friend (operator T-Mobile Germany) later
this evening.

It strange, because iwlist scan works. Logs says imo nothing about this.

#1904: om2008.8 wifi don't get always an ipv4 ip

Sometimes the FreeRunner doesn't get an ip (v4) address from my router,
only a ip (v6). I don't like that, because I can't ssh into my device with
a ipv6 (my computer's limitations). How can I insists he get an ipv4 ip
address?
Steps to repro:
- Start Om2008.8
- Goto settings
- Goto wifi
- pick right router
- Enter pass for WiFi (WPA2)
- wait for a while
- Start Terminal
- do ifconfig
Expected result:
- An 'inet addr' next to the eth0 device
Actual result:
- only a 'inet6 addr' next to the eth0 device

#1905: packagekit daemon crashing due to interactive pacakge install?
-----------------------+----------------------------------------------------

Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone:
Component: Installer | Version: Om2008.8
Severity: normal | Keywords:
Blockedby: | Reproducible:

I tried running pkcon update on my my freerunner.
It displayed many lines of installing packages, then suddenly quit when it
got to openmoko-community-repository :
...
installing openmoko-common2-0.1.0+svnr3259-r0 [===============] (74%)
installing openmoko-community-repository-1.0-r0.01[ ]
(74%)
The daemon crashed mid-transaction!
I did "killall packagekitd" and tried the upgrade again through opkg.
This time when it got to that same package there was a interactive prompt:
Downloading http://downloads.openmoko.org/repository/Om2008.8/om-gta02
/openmoko-community-repository_1.0-r0.02_om-gta02.opk
Configuration file '/etc/opkg/Multiverse-feed.conf'
==> File on system created by you or by a script.
==> File also in package provided by package maintainer.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions (if diff is
installed)
The default action is to keep your current version.
*** Multiverse-feed.conf (Y/I/N/O/D) [default=N] ?
If I remember correctly from some short reading I've done about
packagekit: interactive installs are not supported, so I'm guessing that's
why it crashed.
