#1906: Duplicate SMS in inbox

If I go to my sms inbox, there are a lot of sms duplicates.
For example: I received three SMS today. After opening the inbox several
times, there are 5 SMS:
SMS A
SMS B
SMS A
SMS B
SMS C
So, if I have more than only two SMS in the inbox, let's say 20, after a
few times opening the inbox there are about 50 SMS and at least half of
them are duplicates!
I'm using Raster's OM 2008.08 image on Freerunner.

Comment(by Cruxy):
I've seen that too on my freerunner, but didn't track that down until now.
When I called dhclient eth0 manually I got the following:
...
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 6
DHCPOFFER from 192.168.1.1
DHCPREQUEST on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
DHCPDECLINE on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 8
...
and dmesg shows:
...
[12884.985000] Alignment trap: dhclient (4824) PC=0x00027ec4
Instr=0xe5933000 Address=0xbedda312 FSR 0x013

Instr=0xe5933000 Address=0xbedf3352 FSR 0x013
...
could you tell me if that looks the same for you?

I always gets DHCPDISCOVER and than a fail, because there were no
DHCPOFFERS. I did the command once before I connect to the router and once
after. Twice with the same result.

Please attach the logs to #1192. Also could you verify that the modem is
dead afterwards? E.g. kill qpe and then use minicom to connect to the
modem and issue AT?
thanks.

Comment:
Please see http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Bug_Filing_Policy.
Issues:
- You selected a component, a wrong one
- You didn't attach opkg list_installed
- You didn't attach the output of logread.
Next time such a ticket will be closed as invalid...
I have seen this a couple of times but not recently. So the output of
logread of the init sequence and logread after the duplication happened
would be appreciated.

Comment:
i'm going to need a way to reproduce.. as i have never seen this happen...
ever. the problem is... you don't interact with it so a reproduce case is
nigh impossible... i am not sure this can be fixed unless there is a
reproduce case :(
did you change timezone or anything about that time?

Comment(by stiell):
I've got the toolchain set up and am in progress of fixing this bug! The
"@" problem is fixed, and I'm now going to make it translate the other
characters.
I'm using Unicode's maping document on the GSM 7-bit default alphabet:
http://unicode.org/Public/MAPPINGS/ETSI/GSM0338.TXT
I'll submit a patch once I'm done.
