Here's some bits of diagnosis on the desktop :

You'll notice I have a local LAN with a netmask for 192.168.0.x up to 192
on eth0, but it doesn't seem to be a problem as it works for some time...

Also running tcpdump when it breaks gives :

Will try and provide debug info from the FR if/when I can connect to it
via WIFI at the same time as usb

Running the script '''/etc/init.d/gpsd''' with the '''restart''' option,
causes the gpsd to be killed.

This is beacuse the script executes '''killall gpsd''', actually killing
 itself before the new start.

A quick and dirty workaround is to rename the script as gpsdaemon or
 somthing alike.

I attach a modified version of the script that tries to retrieve the PID
of the daemon before killing it.

Otherwise remove the restart option from the usage help.

Today I upgraded tzdata package to version 2007k-r3 and I discovered that
my symbolic link /etc/localtime was replaced by a file.

We should add /etc/localtime to the package conffiles.

Hmmm... I'm thinking that the network mask discrepency between the two
machines may be the cause of that problem...

Will try with same settings after changing the netmask to 255.255.255.192
on the FR, and report if this is solved...

I see that this ticket ended up owned by openmoko-kernel. This is most
probably wrong. When opening the ticket I selected the component "System
Software" without knowing that this meant actually the kernel, sorry.
It looks like I can not reassign this ticket to another component without
some trac-admin magic I do not fully understand. Whoever is able to do so,
please feel free to reassign it to the correct component (Distro?, host
 utilities?... I don't know).
