for now I just removed pulseaudio -- it seems it is needed only for 2007
stack and I installed openmoko-mediaplayer2 so it pulled pulseaudio in
opkg remove openmoko-mediaplayer2 openmoko-sound-system2 pulseaudio-
server

I just want to join in here.
Because telephony on the Openmoko is in such a bad state, I wanted to use
it at least as a GPS device. This bug makes the Openmoko even unusable for
that. After starting tangoGPS and not touching anything for 30 sec my
Openmoko goes into suspend. Not good.

Sorry - I should have stated that all these cards work fine in other (2G)
phones, including my
Nokia 6230i and my wife's Motorola.
> since you get error code 13, it looks like SIM card problem. Are these 3
cards all failed? and > get the same error code?
all the cards behave in the same manner, I'm guessing it's a problem with
the modem firmware?
It sounds a lot like #666 (except for 2G SIMs). All the SIMs I have look
like the not working
SIM labelled "O2 Germany" on:
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/FreeRunner_unable_to_work_with_3G_SIM_cards
(i.e. the side "terminals" on the chip are separated by more than just a
thin line which
is what the working SIM card I have (Vodaphone UK) looks like.
Here is the output from the AT Commands you requested:

I'm very envious. Does the chip look like the O2 Germany chips at the
bottom of:
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/FreeRunner_unable_to_work_with_3G_SIM_cards
i.e. are the terminals separated by more than thin black lines?

Comment(by wilk):
Last update. I upgraded to
http://downloads.openmoko.org/repository/testing/
The phone never goes to suspend by itself, regardless of the time chosen
either in "Settings" or in illume's configuration tool (the wrench). The
setting for blanking the screen in illume's configuration tool is however
honored.
The POW button does't put the phone in suspend mode (it doesn't do
anything). However apm -s on a terminal does suspend the phone and POW
wakes it up.

Comment(by hiciu):
I think there is workaround for this issue. In xterm on freerunner or via
ssh with "export DISPLAY=:0":
{{{
xset s 30
}}}
After 30 seconds it will go sleep.
{{{
xset s off
}}}
It will never go sleep. It's work on my today-updated om2008.08. After
resume you must tap screen to unblank it. I'm using only "stable" repos
and my power button always put my freerunner in sleep.
(sorry for my bad English)
