Nothing. Currently I'm happy that this init sequence is working at all.
And yes we delay a lot until the SIM reports to be ready.
Also Qtopia is exporting the GSM Network Registration status via DBus. It
is up to illume to display "Searching for Network".

This won't be fixed for Om2008.9. Fixing that issue will require at least
two month of work on inputmethods. Please adjust your planning when this
issue needs addressing.
There is little one can do quickly to cure these problems.

What is this supposed to mean? Do you mean the device wakes up but the
screen remains black? How do you know that it is waking up at all? Got a
picture?

Correct - the screen is blank but the device is running. They showed it to
me. We could connect via USB and issue arbitrary commands. I mailed Andy
several times to ask what kind of debug output might help. No answer so
far ...
