I suppose that request makes sense to you. Could you walk me through that?

The symbol | presumably indicates a paragraph rather than a subfolder.

The log files exist, I imagine, only in memory, so I will have to run
the live cd and installer again. I want to know what I'm going to do
before starting because, otherwise, it could be a complete waste of time.

Does the live cd have a tool such as Midnight Commander enabling me to
copy the logs to a partition on my hard disk? (A partition which the
installer cannot see.)

I can probably mount partition sda7 to /mnt/sda7 and use cp to copy if
no easier method exists. So then, I guess, I type

cp /var/log/installer|partman|syslog
/mnt/sda7/home/terry/Current/siriusPartman.log

That looks wrong to me. I don't want to spend all day trying to work
out how to get it right.

I need a tool useable by a human; if I have to use vi, it may take until
next century.
