I don't know the details here, but it's worth mentioning that BIOS corruption is a common issue with Gigabyte motherboards and is OS-independent. I've had serious problems with both Ubuntu and OpenBSD. The only solution was cracking the box open and briefly unplugging the CMOS battery. It could be an issue with OpenBSD, but it's likely that some innocuous bootloader change triggered one of Gigabyte's bugs. > real mem = 8464519168 (8072MB) > avail mem = 8203829248 (7823MB) > mpath0 at root > scsibus0 at mpath0: 256 targets > mainbus0 at root > bios0 at mainbus0: SMBIOS rev. 2.7 @ 0xebde0 (50 entries) > bios0: vendor American Megatrends Inc. version "F1" date 01/22/2014 > bios0: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
