A dmesg would have shown how many physical disks are in the system.

It's an example of how not providing a dmesg because you don't think it's
relevant, can imply that you know enough not to need your hand held, and
therefore just get the direct answer to the question you asked, (which is
what I provided, nothing more, nothing less).

In previous posts to the list, the OP said that he is porting libreswan
to OpenBSD.  So it's perfectly reasonable to assume that he is somewhat
familar with the OS, and therefore shouldn't require the "don't use a
single / partition" warning.
