They are basically test descriptions. They come from the earliest days of RTEMS before MS-Word took over the .doc extension. You can tell how old they are at times because they will include references to directives in the original RTEID naming scheme -- say sm_create instead of rtems_semaphore_create. Moving them to markdown makes it possible to generate a test description document from these. Converting them will make that easier.
