`BSP_poll_char` references `BSP_inch()`, which waits until a character arrives. The function has to return -1 if no character is available. `getchark()` thus blocks while no input is available. `ts-validation-io-kernel` stops after its first output until the test runner ends it with a timeout. Found while running the full test suite on Qemu.
