[ccing build-dev] Yes, as I said here: http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/hotspot-dev/2015-February/017175.html there are JDK changes but what I had to begin with was for 7 as that's where the bug was reported. While the HotSpot changes are pretty much the same on 7, 8 and 9, doing the JDK side has basically been a complete re-write, especially as, unlike 7, 8 has very little recognition of ppc64le.
