Jumping in a bit late in the discussion...I agree with Erik, having ppc64le as CPU seems the right way to go. I'm just wondering if you have checked the makefiles if there are tests for ppc64 elsewhere that will now fail for ppc64le. I noticed that there was one such change in the configure script, but there might be more in the makefiles themselves.
