Vijay, this is both Papilio bootes and "Papilio janaka". janaka is the Himalayan subspecies of bootes, which is what you have posted. The nominate subspecies, bootes, occurs in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills south of the Brahmaputra River, and a third subspecies, mixta, in Manipur, Nagaland and NE Myanmar. If you deal at species level, then all of these are Papilio bootes. For precision, I use subspecies names, some of which will turn out to be distinct species as more work is done on Indian butterflies. For clarity and long-term validity, this is one reason why we are using subspecies names on our Butterflies of India website. Gaurav and I recently saw several Papilio bootes janaka (Himalayan Tailed Redbreast) in Sikkim. I will create a species page and upload its pictures on the website in the coming week.

Hi Here is a photo of what looks like a Tailed Redbreast from Buxa Tiger Reserve on 24th May 2011 by Tarun Karmakar. My question is this Papilio janaka or P. bootes ? I read on Wikipedia : "the red at the base of the wings are more extended than in P. bootes and continue along the dorsal margin of the hind wing in a long streak." Please help with clarification.
