Most of the cameras and smart phones are coming with GPS - planning to sync the location [photo] and google maps [butterfly map]. Its a long shot but still working on it.

It should be possible if the photo sources have info about the place and date. I initially developed a Matlab that can ID species based on the training images in the database. It does decently well currently, but still long way to go and I would need to have my own server with Matlab server running which would be too expensive for me. So, I recently started working on implementing a simple online query based search tool. It should be ready in a month or two, depending on how much occupied I am with other stuff.
