Dear Chittaranjan, Your understanding is optimistic but not practical Continuous mode means Not literally continuous Once shutter is pressed and held the camera will be exposing frames until it is released The No. of frames/sec will depend upon: 1. The shutter speed used (slower the speed lesser the frames) 2. The memory card(recording speed varies from card to card) 3. The processing software used by the camera 4. The hard ware (like PC). 5. The lighting conditions 6. Subject contrast and etc 5 and 6 will effect the focusing Camera has to do lot of things before proceeding to next frame and a time gap is required (even it is a fraction of second) Even in video mode also there will be a gap from frame to frame which cannot be detected by human eye

As I have understood that the butterfly was urinating in a very small fraction of second so catching it at that instant in continuous mode (4.5 FPS) would have been ideal if it was shoot at 1/4.5 seconds shutter speed. For in that case the next frame will start immediately after the first one, leaving no time gap between the frames (Pl correct me if my undestanding is not ok). The butterfly will have exposure for the whole time (provided the camera & butterfly have not shaken much for sharp image) but the urine will be exposed only the discharge duration. Higher shutter speed would have been useful with out the problem of synchronization if the camera could give higher FPS. The question is while the cameras can provide higher FPS in movie mode (~ 20 to 40 FPS) while in still mode the FPS is quite less, is it the problem only due to processing speed?
