Blaise, Vitex is very unlikely to be the larval host plant of the Common
Wanderer (Pareronia hippia). There should have been the proper host plant
(Capparis) somewhere around. Sometimes caterpillars walk quite far before they
settle for pupation.

With best wishes,

Subject: [ButterflyIndia] New Larval food plant of Common Wanderer - Vitex
negundo (NIRGUNDI) ??? Blaise

Hi All,

Treking at Asawa Fort, found 3nos pupa of Common Wanderer on a Vitex negundo
branch, which was five feet of the ground.... There was no Capparis around....

Question - Is Vitex negundo a known larval food plant of Common Wanderer... or
is this a new record... ??? :-)

Attached pls find pics.....

Blaise
