SPROUTS Earth Mela on Dec 3-4, 2011 (Sat-Sun) @ MNPS & SGNP (NIC) Dear friends, As some of you must be aware, SPROUTS Earth Mela has been an annual fixture on Mumbai's Environment-Events Calendar for the last few years. Earlier on, we used to coincide our festival with the Earth Day Celebrations on April 22. However, due to very high summer temperatures, exams of Masters level students (many of who volunteer or intern with us) and the rest vacationing away, we decided to move the festival to a more pleasant part of the year and hence this year it will be on Sat-Sun - Dec 3 & 4, 2011, at the Maharashtra Nature Park (MNPS) and some film screenings will also be done at the Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC), Sanjay Gandhi National Park (Borivali). In the past, we have promoted themes such as Carbon Reversal and Biodiversity Conservation (check links below), and this year our Theme is 'Indian Forests'. Yes, some of you may wonder as to how directly you are connected with the Theme of Indian Forests. However, our Environment is an interlinked jigsaw puzzle. Nature, technology, education, media, entertainment, natural and man-made resources, social outfits or lifestyle products, tourism and health - ALL connect directly and indirectly with our Green Theme. Photography Exhibition: Celebrate biodiversity of our forests, the theme of the exhibition being 'The Year of Indian Forest' Adventure Sports Arena: Where kids and adults can indulge their adventurous spirit Also lectures, workshops, nature trails by eminent personalities, games and activites for all age groups.
