Greetings from BNHS- CEC!!! The winter is arriving and the BNHS- CEC is proud to announce the nature trail to Manpada. Manpada is a small trail to the hillock on the Thane- Ghodbunder road. Situated on the Thane side the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) the area once used to be hub of quarrying activity. After the enforcement of the strict ban on quarrying and undertaking necessary remedial measures; today a lush green forest is a welcome sight. The quarries act as small ponds attracting variety of organisms. Watch the dazzle of butterflies and other treasure troves of nature. One can have a bird’s eye view of the adjoining spread Thane city and the creek. * * *Venue: *Manpada. *Date:* 20 November 2011, Sunday *Time: *8:00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. *Meeting Point: *Manpada Entry point of SGNP near Tikujiniwadi. *Charges:*Rs. 60/- per head. *Please note participants will have to buy their own entry ticket of Rs. 20/- each.* *How to reach:* Take State Transport or BEST Bus going to Borivali/ Mira Road/ Bhayendar from Thane Station. Get down at Manpada Bus stop.
