I use the fence rails also, buy an end cap to put on the top to keep the water out of the pipe.

The PVC is dielectric (for the most part) so the two might not work equally.  Might be interesting.

Thanks, think I will try the fence rails, maybe next time.

I use two, ten-foot sections of 4-inch diameter thin wall PVC
sewer pipe to get to twenty feet for my "portable" Armstrong
Dipole.  It does not telescope.  I have installed appropriate
threaded fittings so as to assemble / dis-assemble it into two
pieces on the ground after which it is deployed, or, returned to
storage or transport.  I believe that the two pieces could be
glued together if transport was not necessary.

However, walking this up to a vertical position single-handedly
may be difficult if the antenna is heavy.  In my situation I am
using two "hamstick" vehicle antennas to make a horizontal dipole
    for 80 meters.

Doesn't rust and can be painted for camouflage.

Does anyone have a telescoping mast such as a two section 20

of a mast but the mast and its rings and pins are completely
rusted out I can no longer raise the antenna to proper height
(it’s up to the roof eave now it was previously at rooftop
level at 17 feet above ground actually mfj says 35 above
ground is ideal but that is not a good idea on a city lot) if
anyone has other ideas let me know thanks AG5T
