I don't think "sweet" comes anywhere near describing what is now
sitting on the bench at the shop.

I was expecting 20, maybe 30 modems. I was completely unprepared to receive...

122 modems!

Plus, 2 PCI network cards, 2 SUN network cards, and an ISA sound card
that somehow made it into the box clearly labeled "MODEMS".

The guy said there was a 100 modems in there, and charged me $50. I
didn't bother counting before I left, trusting it was accurate. Since
he was way under, it worked out to just under 41¢ a modem, plus the
freebies.

I sorted them all out, and it goes something like this:

1/3 ISA
2/3 PCI

ISA: All kinds, but a few 3Coms that should work as good as the PCI
3Coms do. The only difficult part with these is testing for speed..
it might be easiest to put them in a Windows box, see what they detect
as, and toss any that aren't at least 33.6k.

PCI: There's 20+ 3Com ones (yay!), a bunch of Connexant, some
Lucent/Agere, a handful of PC-Tel, a few Creative, some Intel, a bit
of Rockwell.

The good news is that this a nearly unlimited supply, so I should be
able to check back in another couple of months and probably pick up
another box.

How's that? =)
