I did the prelinking. It took a while. I left the apartment an hour into it so I'm not sure how long it took to run the prelinking. At least an hour :). But here are just some basic benchmarks: KDE Before Prelinking: To open Firefox: 13 seconds To open OpenOffice Writer: 37 seconds KDE After Prelinking (and after a reboot): To open Firefox: 8 seconds To open OpenOffice Writer: 31 seconds I didn't time opening these two apps in Gnome before prelinking, but here are the results of opening these apps in Gnome After Prelinking (and after a reboot): To open Firefox: 5 seconds To open OpenOffice Writer: 14 seconds > 2. Firefox Optimizations I didn't make any benchmarks before adjusting Firefox but it does seem to load webpages faster after making the optimizations. Btw, this is on the HP Pavilion, 500 MHz, 256 MB RAM. Oh, and there's an issue with it shutting down. It shuts down but it doesn't power off completely. sean
