On Ubuntu 12.04 precise, when downloaded fresh from svn and build from scratch
using build.sh it fails first complaining libtool. Then I installed libtool
using
sudo apt-get install libtool
Then it fail complaining a syntax error at PKG_CHECK_MODULES check. When I
installed pkg-config using
sudo apt-get install pkg-config
that problem also solved.
As I remember there was no such problem with earlier ubuntu versions(at least
before ubuntu 10.x). At that time we could build just after issuing
sudo apt-get install build-essential
So with current ubuntu versions before build follow these steps
sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install libtool
sudo apt-get install pkg-config
