well, it should be obvious to the OP that sending such a question to a
biased list is a stupid thing to do. he's better off sending the
question to sun.

besides, for the new programmer who cannot make up their mind, perl is
probably a good choice, it's easy to work with if one cannot decide to
use:

die if( defined($a) );

or

unless !defined($a) die;

or

if( defined($a) ) die;

... ad nauseam

PHP is ok, if you know what you're doing. there's a few gotchas, like
mail(), be sure to remember that it's just a call to sendmail with some
parameters, injection of \n or whatever can be a little nasty.
