Another thing you can do is provide a free version and a commercial
version. This lets people try the software and then if they like it,
can upgrade to the commercial version. The digital audio workstation
Reaper at cockos.com follows this model (free for personal use, you
buy a commericial license for commercial use). Both products are
identical in terms of feature set, but you get commercial support when
you buy the license.
