Thank you for responding to my inquiry. I had always thought that the name
Rocafort was rather uncommon but my search is proving otherwise. Perhaps it
is
as you suggest that areas with strong rock fortifications had many people of
this name. I have found that there are currently Rocafort in northern Spain
and southern France in the Pyrenees as well as on the coast of the bay of
Biscay.
the area you live in sounds beautiful and rich in history. I wish you well
