The name simply means "fortified rock" so I would guess that there would
be quite a few places by that name in Spain and Catalonia. It's likely
that your ancestors came from one of them, possibly at the time when
Spain colonised much of Central and South America and, of course, Peurto
Rico. I am now living in Laroque des Alb�res, France, the name of which
has similar origins. In Catalan it is La Roca d'Albera. Looking out of
my window I can see an old fortification which dates from the time when
the heirs of Charlemagne disputed territory in the Pyrenees.
