Sayyed Nasrallah: Palestinian Resistance Will Triumph 31/12/2008 Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah reiterated on Wednesday that Israel's deadliest offensive against Gaza launched since Saturday was identical to what had taken place in Lebanon during the July 2006 war and expected that the Palestinian Resistance would achieve victory and the Zionist entity would be defeated once again. His eminence stressed that the Palestinian Resistance was still tenacious and solid, pointing out that its base wasn't affected by the massacres committed until now. Sayyed Nasrallah was speaking through a large screen as he marked the fourth night of Ashoura at the Sayyed Shouhadaa complex in Beirut's southern suburb (Dahiyeh). His eminence explained that there was more than one aspect in the offensive against Gaza, noting that the air raids against Palestinians, the martyrs who are falling and the destruction which is taking place do not constitute the whole picture. Sayyed Nasrallah praised the Palestinian Resistance for its steadfastness and firmness and the Gaza people for their sense of responsibility and support for the Resistance. The Resistance leader noted that the Palestinian Resistance was benefiting from the July 2006 war better than the Israelis, noting that the lessons are making the Israelis appear even weaker. His eminence underscored that the Israelis didn't have any "declared goal" for their war on Gaza. "In Lebanon, they had announced big objectives since the first day but they failed to achieve any of them," Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out, noting that for these reasons, they (Israelis) seem really perplexed in Gaza. "They didn't even declare that they seek to topple the Hamas government or put an end to the Resistance status," his eminence said. "They don't even dare to say that they aim at preventing resistance factions from launching rockets," his eminence noted, ridiculing the "rubber title" of "changing the situation in the ground." "Israelis doubt their own ability to achieve the goals and this is complete failure," Sayyed Nasrallah stressed. He added that the Palestinian Resistance seems, in contrast, committed to victory. His eminence expected that the Resistance would triumph at the end given that time was not in Israel's interest, recalling that air raids could not settle the battle. Sayyed Nasrallah uncovered an international plot to impose a humiliating settlement on Palestinians, saying that Hamas was the only obstacle for such a conspiracy. "They are preparing for an international conference to be attended by Americans, Israelis, Europeans and the so-called moderate Arabs in order to end the conflict and impose a humiliating settlement on Palestinians," his eminence asserted. However, Sayyed Nasrallah expressed belief that the Palestinian Resistance was strong and would achieve victory just like the Resistance in Lebanon did in August 2006. "Let's go back to the first day of the operation and the scenario of war. It's the same scenario of 2006. However in Lebanon, Allah had mercy on us and we managed to capture two Israeli soldiers on the 12th of July, otherwise the war was intended to begin in autumn of 2006 and it would have been similar to the war on Gaza. Gaza received assurances that there will not be an aggression on it, and suddenly within a matter of 3 minutes, 60 fighter jets and 20 helicopters drop more than 100 tons of explosives on the Strip. A large number of martyr fell and this happens during wars, but what's important is that the resistance absorbed the first strike and came out tenacious and solid. Colluding Arab states, and I insist on this, have told the Israeli not to take the same trend that they adopted in Lebanon, where they extended the war for 33 day and eventually failed. Those Arab states told Israel that they have to end the war in Gaza within a few days because they cannot tolerate daily demos and media pressure. It was supposed that the air strike would lead to the breakdown of Hamas and resistance factions and then the resistance would contact concerned Arab states to tell them: 'we cant go on, find a way to fix the situation.' This was the scenario. Moreover, when Israel's agents in Gaza or some Arab states inform the Zionist entity that the resistance in the strip has collapsed, Israel kicks off its ground operation; this should have ended in a few days according to their scheme. But the resistance is still solid and strong. You know that when one rocket or one hundred rockets fall on Israeli settlements, they have to follow strict procedures. There are elections in the few coming days. The Palestinian resistance has managed to force hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers into shelters and shut down universities and factories. This Gaza, although deemed weak, is putting today 208 settlements and 635 thousands Israelis in the danger zone," his eminence said. "There remains the ground operation. I can't say whether Israel will launch a ground operation or not. Yet, it is clear until this moment that the Israelis are hesitant. The ground operation comes as elections are due in a few days. If they triumph in a ground battle, it's for their benefit, but if they were defeated, it will result in a political set back for them. They will either win or loose; they are not sure of winning and they fear loosing, at least this is what they political and military analysts say. Indeed, the responsibility of any defeat will lie on the shoulders of Barack and Livni along with her Kadima party. And then Netanyahu will emerge to seize the moment and say: 'if I were PM I would have succeeded and achieved this and that.' Therefore, this is a true matter of concern for the Israeli, especially that a ground battle in Gaza, on the resistance level, does not need extraordinary capabilities and from what I know, the resistance there has the will and determination to confront the ground offensive. The Israelis have the right to be hesitant and worried when it comes to storming ito Gaza. When the ground operation begins, and the real confrontation begins, the Israeli fiasco will become clear and the voices of the Israelis will rise. Until this very moment, I can say that what is taking place in Gaza is similar to what had taken place in Lebanon in 2006. If resistance fighters persist as our fighters did, victory will be waiting for them. Time is not in Israel's interest and the street is pressuring Israel and all colluding regimes. Because of resistance and steadfastness, because of rejecting compromises or surrender, the Gaza strip is already triumphing and Israel is witnessing defeat," Sayyed Nasrallah declared, calling on everyone to believe in the Palestinian Resistance and back it through all possible means. His eminence renewed his calls to the Arab regimes to support Gaza and the Egyptian government to open the Rafah crossing for Palestinians. Sayyed Nasrallah recalled that a majority of Lebanese has assumed responsibility and fought against occupation until throwing it out. "This national sense of responsibility allowed the Resistance to persist and develop since 1985." The resistance leader renewed commitment to the choice of Resistance. "It's not that we want to have a Resistance or weapons, but it's our responsibility to be committed to the Resistance," his eminence said, recalling that Lebanese had two choices "to live with honor and dignity or with degradation, and if we choose dignity, then we'll have responsibilities to assume." Sayyed Nasrallah began his speech by focusing on the notion of "responsibility". He pointed that responsibility wasn't limited to a specific geographic surrounding or dimension. His eminence stressed that as human beings are given mind, freedom, choice and will; this means that they have responsibilities to shoulder. Sayyed Nasrallah tackled the issue of "greenhouse effect," noting that it constitutes nowadays one of the toughest challenges within the international community. His eminence pointed to a role for the US administration or the "greatest Satan" in this field, stressing that the US crimes are not limited to invading Iraq and Afghanistan but extend to the environmental cause. "The US is, until today, refusing to engage into any agreement that would restrict the Greenhouse effect due to the American greediness and avarice," his eminence said. "No matter how many millions of people are killed, the important thing for the American administration is that US companies continue manufacturing and earn ill-gotten gains," Sayyed Nasrallah added, warning that such gains would lead one day to cause the biggest catastrophe for the American administration. Haniyeh: Palestinian Victory in Gaza Near 01/01/2009 Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said on Wednesday that Israeli attacks on Gaza had to stop before any truce proposals could be considered. "First, the Zionist aggression must end without any conditions... Second the siege must be lifted and all the crossings must be opened because the siege is the source of all of Gaza's problems," he said in a televised speech to Palestinians through the airwaves of the Aqsa TV that was leveled to the ground days earlier. "After that it will be possible to talk on all issues without any exception," Haniyeh said, referring to recent truce proposals raised by all parties, including Israel. Haniyeh was speaking from an undisclosed location in the Gaza Strip, home to 1.5 million Palestinians, which has suffered the deadliest Israeli attacks since 1948 as at least 394 Palestinians have been martyred. Haniyeh sounded a defiant tone, saying the resistance group that controls the Gaza Strip will eventually win the fight against Israel. "We tell the Palestinian people in Gaza and everywhere that you will win, inevitably," Haniyeh said. "Victory is near, God willing, and it is closer than people think." Palestinian resistance fighters have launched some 400 rockets into occupied territories, largely bringing daily life in settlements to a standstill for about half a million settlers. Four Israelis have been killed in the rocket fire so far. In his speech, Haniyeh said: "What is happening in Gaza is not normal aggression. It is a real war, a war without morals, with neither principles nor laws. It is a war of elimination against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip." Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, earlier on Wednesday said that Israel is hesitating to launch a ground invasion into the Gaza Strip for fear of failure ahead of elections. "What is happening in Gaza is a victory, despite all the pure blood being spilled," said Sayyed Nasrallah. Haniyeh concluded his strong speech by saying that "Gaza after the war will not be the same Gaza before the war." Livni Retracts Announced Goal to Topple Hamas 01/01/2009 Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni has retracted a main goal announced by the Israeli occupation leaders earlier in which they said that the objective of the military aggression against the Gaza Strip was to topple what they called "Hamas regime". In an interview with ABC television Wednesday, Livni said that Israel's short-term goal in Gaza is not overthrowing Hamas. "The only way that the Palestinians can create a state is also by changing the situation in Gaza ... So the changes in Gaza and the changes of regime are needed also to create this vision of two states ... or to translate it into reality," she said. Overthrowing Hamas, she added, "is not the goal of the current operation, but at the end of the day, Gaza controlled by Hamas is a problem to Israel, a problem to the Palestinians and a problem to the entire region." Last Thursday, Livni met Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo shortly after the Israeli cabinet approved a military operation in the Gaza Strip. There, the Israeli Foreign Minister has vowed to end Hamas's control of the Gaza Strip. Asked about the likelihood of a ground assault on Gaza by Israeli occupation army, Livni said: "I don't know yet. Everything is prepared. We started with the air force ... and we are making our decisions on a daily basis." ISRAELI ARMY RECCOMENDS MAJOR, BUT BRIEF GAZA GROUND OP. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation army recommended a major, but relatively short-term, ground offensive in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, as military preparations continued on the border. The army was given the green light to forge ahead with Operation Cast Lead, which enters its sixth day Thursday. Detailed briefings have been underway for the past two days at Southern Command, with occupation officers receiving their orders. The General Staff believes that more pressure must be put on Hamas to make it agree to a long-term cease-fire under conditions more favorable to Israel. The occupation army said rocket fire on the south was expected to continue during a ground operation. It recommends that a diplomatic exit plan be prepared while a cease-fire agreement is formulated. An Iraeli senior military officer told Israeli electronic site Ynet Wednesday that Israeli forces are ready to embark on a ground assault in Gaza, adding that "anyone who thinks we'll be conducting ourselves gently is wrong." "Hamas has indeed prepared for this, but so did we." IDF officers say they are closely familiar with Hamas' military buildup but add that troops are prepared for the mission ahead. Ever since the Second Lebanon War, the IDF has been engaged in intensive training sessions and preparations ahead of a possible clash in the Strip. A ground assault on Gaza will be a challenge, yet military officials are saying loud and clear: "We're ready." HAMAS 'SURPRISES' FOR ISRAELI ARMY? Israeli Army officials say Israeli troops should be expecting "nature reserves," similarly to what occupation soldiers encountered in Lebanon while fighting Hezbollah. Hamas is believed to have prepared numerous underground sites containing various weapons. Israeli Military officials estimate that similarly to Hezbollah, which had some "surprises" for the Israeli occupation army during the Second Lebanon War, Hamas may also be in possession of arms that Israel has no knowledge of. While Israeli officials tend to favor a clear agreement with Hamas, even if it is not enshrined in a written document, Livni is considering another idea. She reportedly believes that it might be better to aim for a situation in which there is no clearly set-out agreement, but Israel would make clear beforehand that it would respond forcefully to any firing from Gaza after hostilities ended. On Wednesday, some 70 rockets were fired from Gaza at the Negev, among them some 10 Katyushas with a range of about 40 kilometers. These landed in Be'er Sheva and around Ashdod. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said Wednesday that Israeli attacks on Gaza had to stop before any truce proposals could be considered. He added in a speech that "the siege must be lifted and all the crossings must be opened because the siege is the source of all of Gaza's problems." Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told cabinet ministers that Israel would not conclude its operation until all its goals had been reached. Earlier, Israel rejected a French proposal for a 48-hour cease-fire Ehud Barak: We Struck Hamas but It's Still Striking Back! 01/01/2009 A Grad rocket fired by Palestinian resistance fighters in the Gaza Strip on Thursday scored a direct hit on an eight-floor building in the northern Negev city of Ashdod. The rocket caused a fire to erupt in the building. There were no physical injuries reported. The strike on Ashdod was the ninth rocket to hit the western Negev on Thursday. Six Qassam rockets exploded in the Eshkol region over the course of the morning, and two Grad rockets hit the city of Beersheba. Hamas's armed wing said Thursday it had fired two rockets at an Israeli military base. The Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement they had fired a developed Grad-type rocket at the Hatzerim air force base west of Beersheba, some 40 kilometers from the Gaza border. Later, it announced firing another rocket on the base. The Israeli military confirmed Thursday that the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip had fired another seven rockets into the occupied territories. Three Grad-type rockets were also fired at Beersheba overnight Wednesday, causing no casualties. According to Israel Radio, the city's alarm system was not functioning and the Home Front Command would fix it by Thursday afternoon. Due to the malfunctions in Beersheba's air raid siren system, residents of the Negev city are asked to monitor broadcasts on Radio South (97 FM) and Army Radio (102.3 FM), where sirens will be heard in case of a rocket attack. Also overnight Wednesday, two Qassam rockets were fired at Netivot. No casualties or damage were reported. More than two dozens rockets and mortar shells had been fired by mid-day. One rocket landed in a small farming community about 20 miles (32 kilometers) southeast of Tel Aviv. School was cancelled in large swaths of Israel's south because of the rocket threats. The 18,000 students at Ben-Gurion University in Beersheba, southern occupied territories' only university, were also told to stay home. Wednesday evening saw Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak order a "special situation in the home front" applied to the greater Beersheba area as well, effectively giving security forces municipal jurisdiction over it. Barak's order will elapse in 48 hours, unless sanctioned by the cabinet, and in the meantime, the defense minister urges the city's residents to comply with the Home Front Command's emergency instructions. "We have struck Hamas, but as we all see, it's still striking back," he said during a tour of Beersheba. ___________________________________________________________________________ Dapatkan nama yang Anda sukai!
