It is not actually the fault of Gparted. It is just a GUI over a variety of tools. NTFSprogs 1.13.1 had this problem and it was fixed in 1.13.1.1. I have successfully resized Vista partitions with the latest Gparted CDs containing the updated NTFSprogs.
