The hidden menu option was proposed as part of CoolStart a couple of 
years ago. The design called for a graphic background to be displayed 
during the hidden menu pause that was virtually identical to the 
subsequent "Solaris booting" progress screen, except that the hidden 
menu background included some text to type ESC for boot options - no 
countdown.

Pehaps the hidden menu option provides an arguments to display a 
background graphic and/or suppress the countdown?
