When I sent out the original email, my intention was to discuss what functionalities we want to have in the text installer, even in the longer term. When we are clear on which direction we are going, we can then define the set of functionalities they can implement depending on the amount of time and experience they have. I think that whatever code they write should be in the direction of where we want to go in the future, so, we can use their work as a starting point or as a prototype, and add other functionalities in the future. What I wanted to avoid is that they do something now which is not the direction we want to go, and their work will be completely thrown away. Given that, I think a text installer with a similar installation experience to the GUI installer is something that is do-able in the short term, because most of the backend code they need for such an installer already exist. I believe this installer should be useful for the future as well. --Karen
