This isn't a bug. It's how login works when Root is a role (which is the default setting if you create a user account during installation). It's been this way since 2008.05. http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/IPS/login.html The only explanation I can think of for why you didn't see this on your osol_110 install is perhaps you didn't create an initial user.
