Thanks for the above, but it didn't seem to have any affect. However, it seems the htaccess file in Wordpress was my downfall. It seems the only change I needed was line 7
from RewriteRule . /index.php [L] to RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L And it all seems to be working fine so far. Will test further.
