The problem with misinformation is that it's like playing telephone. You don't just negatively impact the person you told. You also impact the people he tells, and so on and so forth. Before you know it, mass confusion. Granted, the fact that the documentation effort has not been keeping pace with development doesn't help, but giving people bad information, however unintentional, only serves to aggravate the situation, and lately we've been dealing with altogether too much aggravation and bad information.
