Sorry to hear you are having problems, but your description of your problem doesn't really help us to help you. Can you be more specific as to what is going on?
If you want pretty urls you will have mod_rewrite installed for apache and then upload the .htaccess files if in fact they aren't uploaded, by default *nix based operating systems don't display . (dot) files.
