I've tried it using coded joins rather then the automagical parent_id +threaded find.
Behaviour callbacks also don't happen when you link the model to itself. Seems the only time a behaviour is attached is if you specifically call that model and that model only, any nesting or relationships seems to break behaviours.... odd...
