Alan and Mac, I'm not suggesting telling this to dancers. I agree setting up improper and teaching
as suggested is the way to go. The question was more about choreographic
ideas. In a sense Chuck the Budgie's story line starts 4 beats from the end (i.e. last
 4 beats of B2) and the formation at that point is truly improper. The same 
dance
if started at B1 is becket.

Jack, thanks for you example, I've never run across it.  I probably would avoid 
it
however, as B2 and A1 are too similar.  It is reminiscent of Becky Hill's
Square Affair.
