You are missing an obvious reason why Trip To Phan Reel is not called more often. It's a Thanksgiving Day (or the weekend after Thanksgiving Day) dance. Not that the name should matter, but it does.
Kimmswick FIxx is a really good dance, but somehow I only call it on Kimsswick weekend. There are other "seasonal" dances that are called less often than they should. Of course a really good dance can overcome its name. I think "The Big Bicep" is an awkward name at best, but the dance is getting called a lot because it's so much fun that we forgive it its name. Dale I think I'll call Trip To Phan tonight -- just because.
