My apologies.  It seems that there is a problem with lynx that caused me to 
see this.  Your webserver is set to gzip all its output on the way out in 
order to save bandwidth, if the browser says it can support this.   Lynx 
doesn't seem to be gunzipping before saving.  Perhaps the fact that the 
mime-type is that of a gzipped file is confusing it.

It would probably make sense not to gzip downloads of gzipped files, as 
this would probably show little improvement, but that's no excuse for my 
web browser getting it wrong.
