It's the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 1.The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Adopted and proclaimed by General Assembly resolution 217 A (III) of 10 December 1948. On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories." 2.Article 1.All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. Article 3.Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. Article 4.No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms. Article 5.No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. This news,Cambodian Prince Ranariddh appointed chief advisor to King Sihamoni .PHNOM PENH, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prince Norodom Ranariddh has been appointed King Norodom Sihamoni's chief advisor, ... in a royal decree dated Dec. 6, with the prince's new position holding a rank equivalent to prime minister, said Oum Daravuth, member of the Royal Palace cabinet. YET CAMBODIA IS STILL OCCUPIED BY VIETNAM AS OF TODAY. King Sihanouk agreed to the Vietnamese demand. Prime Minister Pham Van Dong called on me and, in the presence of Premier Chou En-lai, swore in the name of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam that the latter would always respect the land frontiers as well as all islands belonging to the "Kingdom of Cambodia" March 1970 by Sihanouk . (Wilfred Burchett book "The China Cambodia Vietnam triangle " P-176-177) If the sky would be really blue that day, then the Vietnamese invaders must return home and the former King . appointed King by Philippe Petain in April 1941 , will be gone peacefully,after rendering an Independence to his country . If not he will face the same problem as Philippe Petain, from the titlte of Hero to traitor to his country. Philippe Pétain or Marshal Pétain (Maréchal Pétain), was a French general who reached the distinction of Marshal of France, later Chief of State of Vichy France (Chef de l'État Français), from 1940 to 1944. Due to his outstanding military leadership in World War I, particularly during the Battle of Verdun, he was viewed as a hero in France. However, during the 1920s and 1930s, while remaining the highest ranking military authority, he neglected to modernize French military capability with the sole exception of the Maginot Line which later proved to be useless. After the French defeat in June 1940, Petain was legally voted in as Head of State ( Chef de l'Etat ) by the French Parliament. However, Petain surrendered France to Germany and, along with his cabinet, including later on Pierre Laval, illegally transformed the French State into a dictatorship headed from the town of Vichy in central France. As the war progressed, the Vichy Government sank deeper into collaboration with the German occupant which finally took control of the totality of metropolitan France. Petain's actions during World War II resulted in a conviction and death sentence for treason, which was commuted to life imprisonment by Charles de Gaulle. In modern France, he is generally considered a traitor, and pétainisme is a derogatory term for certain reactionary policies. Due to his treason conviction, French historians refer to him by his name only Philippe Pétain, without the title.
