And why 800years later the same Khmer are killing each other as you are always saying? I'm afraid you will fall into same guys that hate and blame Vietnamese and Thai on everything in Cambodia because of this or of that. My answer is this: Due to social and relegious change, Khmer Kingship hardliner had been ordering to kill against social multi-ethnic integration then war had broken out.
