BAM example in 1.4 snapshot

I just downloaded the 1.4 snaphot to have a look at the bam example but 
it was not there.
In the 1.3 distribution the example is there. Is BAM left out on purpose 
or did something go wrong in
the snapshot?

If it was left out on purpose what is the planned future of BAM?
