Fine grain or course grain Processors

Coarse grain Web Services are usually preferred over fine grained  
ones. What's a good granularity for Camel Processors? A Web Service  
that makes JPA calls and sends a notification of some kind could be a  
single Processor or be separated into Web Service, JPA, and  
notification processors. Is there a rule of thumb or do people find  
themselves splitting and combining Processors ad hoc?
