Hi Calamity ,
These Outdoor Wilderness Fabric http://www.owfinc.com/ people
have some interesting fabrics.... I have tried using their black "nylon
taffeta with the silver urethane coated back" ... It is a breathable fabric
so it is not 100 percent light tight, but the pores that it does have are
micro pores.. ............... I find that when laminated to itself it is
almost 100 percent light tight with one a stray micropore visible randomly
when viewed under a 150 watt spot light......If you use opaque stiffeners
it even cuts that down and I made this black out adhesive block out paint
to seal the random renegade pin hole...... The biggest advantage to this
fabric is that it is only 4 thousands of a inch in thickness (.004) It is
certainly a great durable fabric for the outer covering ... If you
request samples ask for a extra large one of the black nylon Taffeta with
the silver back...
I have just recovered several bellows using it. I used this black
out goop I had made up to paint over and seal the old bellows pin holes
and then I recovered the entire bellows with the taffeta... The bellows now
looks like new and the new outer covering is so thin that its effect on the
bellows becoming stiffer is minimal.........
I also used the Camie Upholstery fabric contact cement for the
lamination and it is wonderful stuff... ....It is very thin and
sprayable right out of the gallon can. It is a fast tack and can be used as
a tack adhesive if only one surface is coated at a time... I found this
one surface tack property is helpful as I would lay out the material, tack
every thing and then fold back the material and then apply the second coat
one bellows side at a time for permanent adhesion ... This helped minimize
air bubbles and wrinkles formed in the fabric..) Its advantages of this
adhesive is that it is very thin application due to both its thin
consistency and that it has low soak properties, it remains flexible, does
not dissolve foam, nylon, polyester ect.., tachs with only 1 coating and
permanent when both surfaces are coated .
The Products name is Camie #313B ( bulk 1 gallon and red in color) or #313
