FWIW, we've also lost the ability to style the border and background of
text inputs and textareas fairly recently (not that *buttons'*
backgrounds were ever styleable). This is causing the descenders in
some text boxes that set padding and/or height to be completely chopped
off, and making some text boxes too wide for where they are intended to
fit. I recall text boxes being able to be styled in this manner in
mid-April (around the 16th?). (I brought this up once in IRC, but I
thought I'd restate it here (while I'm still half-asleep)).
