Hi there Deleting the old version did work fine in allowing me to install the new version... very simple and effortless really! I LOVE Camino!!!
Thanks both of you for that help. I did also copy the files as mentioned (not quite sure what I'd do with them if I needed them) but all appears intact in the new browser. BTW I didn't get Stuart's reply, so thanks LSS for replying and keeping his message in the email! cheers Rebecca On 08/04/2008, at 4:57 PM, Livin Stephen Sharma wrote: > Stuart, > the installation instructions/readme also prompt the user to save/ > backup specific folders when switching versions, etc right ? > > On 08-Apr-08, at 12:22 , Livin Stephen Sharma wrote: >> >> >> On 08-Apr-08, at 11:29 , Rebecca and Darren wrote: >>> Thanks Stuart... if I do this, will I lose any bookmarks etc from the >>> old version? >> >> No, you won't lose any such data >> - these things go into folders under Camino-specific directories >> in each users 'Library/Application Support' folder. >> >> " /Users/<RebAndDan>/Library/Application Support/Camino " >> >> for example. >> >>> Would it be better if I log in to the other user a/c to do the >>> download >>> and install from there? >>> R. >> >> This wouldn't matter - you'll just be prompted for an administrator >> username+password again, won't ya ? >> >> >>> >>> On 08/04/2008, at 3:54 PM, Stuart Morgan wrote: >>> >>>> The Finder is unfortunately rather stupid when it comes to replacing >>>> applications that were installed by someone else; instead you'll >>>> have >>>> to drag the old copy to the trash (which will prompt you to >>>> authorize >>>> as an administrator), then copy in the new version. >>>> >>>> -Stuart >>> >>> _______________________________________________ >>> Camino mailing list >>> Camino@mozdev.org >>> https://www.mozdev.org/mailman/listinfo/camino >> > > _______________________________________________ > Camino mailing list > Camino@mozdev.org > https://www.mozdev.org/mailman/listinfo/camino > _______________________________________________ Camino mailing list Camino@mozdev.org https://www.mozdev.org/mailman/listinfo/camino
