IT Management
Reference Guide
Your Host Richard Schiesser
|
Welcome back to the IT Management Reference Guide, developed in conjunction with the Harris Kern Enterprise Computing Institute. This week's update is the first of a three-part series on problem management. In this initial segment I begin with a definition for problem management. I also discuss the scope of problem management by comparing and contrasting it to two closely related processes: change management and request management. Parts two and three will detail the eleven steps required to design and implement a robust problem management solution.
Another management article this week highlights a recurring problem in IT environments: the managing of complexity. In his second of a three-part series, Richard Murch addresses the monetary aspects of this problem in his article Managing Complexity in IT, Part 2: The Costs.
