* Multifunction Device Pick: Epson CX6600 *

The CX6600 is designed for photo hobbyists, with media card slots for
printing photos without a PC, and it comes with photo-oriented
software that includes Arcsoft Photo Impression 5.

The multifunction device's strengths lie along the same lines: it
prints color graphics quickly, at 1.4 pages per minute; and it
produced impressive color scans, earning our top score of Outstanding
in tests. Surprisingly, however, its color print quality is spotty. It
did better when printing text, turning out dark and sharp text at a
somewhat slow 4.7 ppm. Its scanning speeds are about average, and
copying is quicker than most other multifunction devices we've tested.

The case is nicely designed, with its front panel sporting Copy and
Scan buttons plus a button to print straight from the media card
reader.

The Epson CX6600 typically sells for around $200. We found one with
the PC World Product Finder for $164 from Page Computer.

* DVD Drive Pick: TDK Internal IndiDVD 12x+/8x- Multiformat Burner *

This speedy internal IDE drive offers solid write-once and rewritable
DVD performance.

TDK's multiformat burner is compatible with DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, and
CD-R/RW media. It writes to DVD+R at 12X, DVD+RW at 4X, DVD-R at 8X,
DVD-RW at 4X, CD-R at 48X, and CD-RW at 24X.

Bundled software includes Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.2 (with
Drag-to-Disc and DVD Builder), PhotoSuite 5 SE, and DVDMax Player. TDK
provides an IDE cable.

TDK backs the drive with a one-year warranty and 8-hour daily
toll-free support; its documentation was rated Outstanding by our
judges.

The TDK Internal IndiDVD 12x+/8x- Multiformat Burner typically sells
for around $135. We found one with the PC World Product Finder for
$100 from CompuPlus.

* Projector Pick: InFocus LP120 *

This sleek, portable DLP projector supports both DVI and 802.11b
connectivity. It did well in our tests, producing very good graphics
and good text and motion.

The projector's native resolution is 1024 by 768 (XGA); it can also
handle 1280 by 1024 (SXGA), 640 by 480 (VGA), and 800 by 600 (SVGA).

The InFocus LP120 is 2 inches high, 9.75 inches wide, and 3.69 inches
deep, and weighs just over 2 pounds. Its lamp life is 2000 hours (a
replacement lamp is $343), and it produces 1000 lumens.

Computer connections are M1-DA and M1-A, while audio/video connections
include composite video, S-Video, and 3.5mm audio inputs. Optional
component-video support is available. The projector comes with an AC
adapter, audio cabling, interface cabling, video cabling, and a remote
control.

InFocus offers a two-year warranty.

The InFocus LP120 was introduced priced at $2200 and typically sells
for around $1700. We found one with the PC World Product Finder for
$1567 from PC Video Online.
